Join us for a day of fun on the water at Kelleys Island, Ohio. Kelleys Island is a 4.4 square mile island formed out of limestone and dolomite. The shoreline includes sandy beaches, cliffs, pebble beaches, and limestone shelves, giving participants the opportunity to explore a variety of environments. This trip is short on distance and high on experiences, as participants will have a chance to paddle, swim, snorkel, cliff jump, and enjoy a picnic lunch on a secluded beach accessible only by boat.

Sandy beaches; rocky coastlines with 10-12 ft cliffs; white pebble beaches harboring a variety of Devonian era fossils; the “alvar” a unique ecosystem made up of limestone shelves extending in the Lake Erie; the ruins of the Kelleys Island Lime & Transport Company’s “North Shore Crusher.,” a 1911 shipwreck in shallow water; and some of the longest glacial grooves in the world. Wildlife sightings include: bald eagles; osprey; great blue heron; great egrets; bitterns, mergansers; red fox; and the once-endangered Lake Erie Water Snake.

Lake Erie is a dynamic body of water, so conditions vary depending on the wind. Fortunately, being a small island gives us lots of options. If waves are over 2ft, then we will launch from the calm side of the island and plan our trip accordingly.

Single or tandem sea kayak and equipment (paddle, life-jacket, whistle, spray skirt (if needed), professional guides, and a picnic lunch.
Note: Ferry transportation to tand from Kelleys Island is not included. -
