Yes! Our super easy reservation ensures that we’ll have the right equipment for you when you arrive, as well as have all the info we need for you to have a quick and easy check in.

Single Kayaks:
• 14 or over. Minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult (18 or over) at all times.

Tandem Kayaks
• Children >35 lbs and able to sit independently are permitted on tandem kayaks with an adult.

Kids Kayaks
• 8-12 years and under 5’2” & < 90 lbs. Children must be supervised on the water by an accompanying adult.

For paddler safety, the following weight limits are in place:

• Kids Kayak < 90 lbs

• Single Touring Kayak <235 lbs

• Single Sit-on-Top Kayak < 275 lbs

• Tandem Sit-on-Top Kayak < 475 lbs combined weight (no individual over 275)

• Standup Paddleboard < 235 lbs

Each kayak rental comes with a properly fitted PFD (personal floatation device), paddle, and bilge pump.

All kayakers are required to wear their life jacket at all times while on the water. In addition, kayaks agree not to stand on, or jump off their kayaks. There is no swimming in Lower Shaker Lake.

There is no charge for reservations canceled at least 90 minutes prior your rental time.

In the event of dangerous weather conditions that require us to close our rental center, all upcoming reservations will be canceled at no charge and those who have rentals in progress with be charged only for time used.

We make it easy to reschedule, change, or cancel your reservation! As long as your request is 90 minutes prior to your launch time you cancel or change without charges.

Self Rescheduling:
• There is a “reschedule” button on your Customer Portal. You received a link to your portal via text when you make your reservation.

• Be sure to let the staff know that this is for the Take to the Lake event and include your last name, launch time, and request. E.g., I have a reservation for Take to the Lake. Smith 10am, change tandem to single kayak.

No. Alcohol is not permitted on any of watercraft and is not permitted in the Shaker Lakes park.

Small, soft-sided coolers are permitted. However, no alcohol is permitted and all coolers will be inspected.

Four-legged paddlers ARE permitted on sit-on-top kayaks. Small dogs can paddle in single SOT; larger dogs must paddle in a tandem.

All dogs must wear a properly sized canine life jacket, which you are responsible for providing.

Unfortunately, dogs are NOT permitted on standup paddleboards, due to the damage caused to the deck pads by claws.
