ACA L3 & L4 Coastal Kayak Instructor CERTIFICATION WORKSHOP

The American Canoe Association (ACA) L3 & L4 Coastal Kayak Instructor Certification Workshop is for aspiring instructors seeking to teach in coastal and open water coastal environments. Candidates will develop and demonstrate teaching methods that provide safe and effective learning experiences in coastal enviroments.

L3 COASTAL KAYAK ICW

• For those seeing to teach sea kayaking in moderate conditions (10-15kn winds, waves & surf 1-2ft) within 1 mile of shore.

• Candidates must pass a Level 3 skills assessment prior to participating in the program.

L4 OPEN WATER KAYAK ICW

• For those seeking to teach in more challenging environments where conditions may limit verbal communication (15-20kn winds, waves 3-5 feet; surf 3-4ft) up to 2 miles from shore.

• Candidates must have a current L3 Coastal Kayak Instructor Certificate and pass a L4 skills assessment prior to participating in the course.

• Instructor Certification Workshop (ICW) - Minimum 4 days (32 hours).
